On the Roof at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
Rooftop bars in Manhattan are very trendy these days and the bar on the roof of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is no exception. On Friday and Saturday evenings it is a sexy scene. It's a place to impress a date, drink a Mojito, enjoy the view of the skyline, gaze at the twinkling lights of the city and take in a dose of art.Jerry and I visited on a Wednesday afternoon and were impressed that there was a well stocked bar even midweek..even at noon.. and that the Mojito was as good as the ones we indulge in on South Beach. But enough about the Mojitos!! The art...the Jeff Koons sculptures were indeed show stoppers. The sky was a brilliant blue and the sun shone so brightly on the colorful stainless steel sculptures you just couldn't get enough!!
Balloon Dog was such fun. It may well be phallic (read Jerry Saltz review for New York Magazine), but in a good and delightful and fun way. Sacred Heart, though simple, was delightful. It sparkled in the sunlight and exemplified the perfect gift we all long to receive. Coloring Book was clever and colorful and made us giddy...or maybe it was the second Mojito.---Brenda Bengis Click on the photo to see more pictures from our trip.
