Alexandra Nechita, "The Petite Picasso"
Alexandra Nechita was an extraordinary artist at a very young age. The first public display of her artwork at the age of eight coincided with the day she became an American citizen, learned she would become a big sister and saw Pablo Picasso's work for the first time at the LA County Museum of Art. Born in Romania in 1985, Alexandra and her mother came to Los Angeles in 1987 to be reunited with her father.
Her interest in art began as a toddler and by the time she was six Nechita was working in oil and acrylic paints in her Picasso-esque style. An art teacher encouraged her parents to allow Alexandra to develop her own style rather than take formal art training.
She is called "The Petite Picasso" for her abstract, cubist work reminiscent of Picasso's style. We have two of Nechita's lithographs for sale at Bengis Fine Art.
We met Alexandra aboard a Princess Cruise ship when Jerry was lecturing on art. From the picture of her with Brenda it is obvious she is as lovely as she is talented.
