WIlliam John Kennedy, Photographer of Andy Warhol

William John Kennedy with Brenda and Jerry Bengis at Adamar Brenda and I enjoyed meeting William John Kennedy at Adamar Fine Arts on December 6th at the opening of Art Basel in the Miami Design District. Kennedy's photos of Warhol at work and in public situations during the 60s were exhibited along with Endangered Species, a series of screen prints produced at the Factory. Kennedy was in his 20s during the Factory period. Kennedy's photos tell both the public and private story of Andy Warhol who was introduced to the photographer after he saw photos Kennedy had taken of artist Robert Indiana.

Adamar Fine Arts exhibits contemporary works of art by Marcus Abel, Djawid Borower and many other local, national and international artists. The gallery is at 4141 NE 2nd Avenue, Suite 107 in Miami.

We had a great time at Art Basel the weekend of December 3 - 6, 2008, visiting many galleries and exhibits in Miami's Art Deco district.

The Sagamore Art Hotel commissioned Swiss artist Olaf Breuning to create a 150 ton contemporary sand sculpture in the form of an Abusrdist sphinx.  It was a great event to watch the installation, followed by a late night "after party" in the gardens of the hotel.  The sculpture was not only captivating, but ephemeral in nature as it lasted only for the duration of Art Basel.

Art Basel Miami Beach is a wonderful art experience in the United States,  the sister event of Switzerland's Art Basel, the most prestigious art show worldwide for more than thirty five years. Art Basel Miami Beach offers an international selection of galleries and special exhibitions, parties and events featuring music, film, architecture and design. Exhibition sites are located in the city's beautiful Art Deco District, close to the beach and many hotels.
